Meet Ron Pagcaliwagan, a former hip hop dancer based in Mississauga, ON, Canada. The film follows Ron as he struggles to balance the challenges of raising a family while mentoring a crew of teen dancers known as I Rock with the ONE.
Ron invites teens with good grades and good standing at home to be part of the I Rock with the ONE dance crew, which competes in local and national hip hop competitions. While he brought a crew of novices all the way to the Worlds in 2009, time constraints and his growing family means he hasn’t been able to repeat that success.
His only income is through a community grant received by the Gateway Centre for New Canadians, where he receives free space to teach. Gateway is owned and operated by Pastor Julius Tiangson, an immigrant to Canada from the Philippines.
